In the work [Entwined] (2000), two human skeletons arranged in reverse directions intertwine with each other and float in the universe together with the planets in the background. In the tradition of occidental painting, human skeleton is an emblem of death and nihilism. However, Cheung infused the element of human affection into this symbol, thereby provoking a head-on clash between human lust and irreversible death and void, as well as highlighting the helplessness of life and inescapable conflicts.
