[My Ways II - Method of Survival (Activity - The Narrow Sense)] is a piece of Chen’s Taipei Series.

This set of works featured Chen’s social circle in Taipei, including visiting exhibitions, interacting with galleries, and making friends with other artists. Chen often goes to galleries by the MRT. The MRT lines ergo become her ways to galleries. She marked specific MRT stations (points), lines, as well as a simplified MRT route map (plane) on a canvas, illustrating the distribution of Taipei-based galleries in general and her actual social circle in particular. On another canvas, the artist used the same composition but replaced the content with black dots that represent the MRT stations. The galleries she tends to visit are located exactly in the immediate vicinity of these stations. Galleries are integral to Taipei’s artistic circles. These bold black dots in this painting seemed to be a dead ringer for the black stones of Go games, suggesting that everything in the artistic circles has probably been manipulated, while artists have been mere ciphers for gallery rule.
