Because of unlimited forms of creation for a long time; no matter plane panting, 3D modeling, and even works with multi-materials and devices, the way Wang Fu-Tung has never been obsessed by the issues came from creative form and selection of material. On the contrary, he swiftly recovers to explore and seek plane painting after deep research in 1994 and 1995 on the domain of composite and device art.

Even though the series of “Affair” and “Sudden Inspiration” are as plane painting as the same presentation in the past, they in fact define an idea of “mocking the present by the old” that was produced from a percept after he read “legendary novel” in recent years. He also intends to create his own style of artistic appearance on the theory of “fadeaway of inspiration” by Ya-Ming Ben. In the content, taking implicated principle of classical work as “longitude” to correspond to “latitude” implied in present environment of the society, in order to raise a claim for creative idea.

Formally, either “Affair” or “Sudden Inspiration” proceeds creation with patterns of “facial makeup in Chinese opera”. Regardless “New Classical Fragments” or “Post Classical Fragments”, modeling in Wang Fu-Tung’s two series is based on traditionally facial makeup in Chinese opera. The facial makeup in Chinese opera is a unique art in Chinese drama; in exaggerative expression of reality combining symbolization, vividly present aspects of figures and uncover human characteristics like type and personality.

“Material” is an essence of visual transmission. Wang Fu-Tung utilizes oil paint and acrylic color to be the way of expression. Due to paint oil possessing solid and dense feature, Wang Fu-Tung uses it as the ground or in the handle of saturating emergence; acrylic color is a kind of water paint developed lately with bright color and quick air-dried that rather matches for a symbol of social subject at present.

In term of formality, his construction in drawing also applies “computerized drawing” as major material of the screen. In post-1990, as people’s life is gradually “digitized”, Wang Fu-Tung began to learn operational skills on computer; he devoted lots of time to explore the artistic appearance related to modern technology, specially application of the computer drawing software -- Photoshop made him realize that adopting computer drawing onto artistic creation would definitely produce the other specific form of technology to help transmission of his idea. Therefore, he scans some chosen images of facial mask of Chinese opera into the computer and then manipulates Photoshop’s function in management of image to generate diverse possibilities of modeling and colorful variation, after that, duplicates them onto canvas from conceiving, wiping, and embellishing to finish an article.

“Sudden Inspiration -- Post Classical Fragments -- Re-aria of Chinese Opera” deeply analyzes and study Master Wang’s research impressions and comparisons between classical literary and contemporary society, which can be a reference to considering and developing future creation.
